Our mission
Philosophy Law and Ethics for Technologies (PhiLET) is a research group that brings together the research outcomes, activities, and publications of the Chair of Philosophy of Law and Bioethics at the Department of Law at the University of Milano-Bicocca. The group’s areas of inquiry range from the development of emerging technologies to the climate crisis and advancements in the medical field, all of which constitute phenomena that challenge core legal categories. Our research aims to analyse, problematize, and clarify the numerous philosophical, ethical, and legal questions arising from technological development in light of the legal framework shaped by modern constitutionalism and human rights. For this reason, PhiLET is characterized by a strong commitment to conceptual analysis, to the ethical and philosophical foundations underpinning the technological progress in order to assess the impact of emerging technologies on individuals’ fundamental rights. Our mission include: research, high-quality teaching, public outreach, and dissemination to the wider community (citizens, companies, and institutions).
